PCFC concludes its participation in GITEX Global 2023 by Launching a Portoflio of Digital Projects

His Highness Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, visited the Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation platform at the GITEX Global 2023 exhibition in its 43rd edition this year under the slogan “Leadership in Sustainability and Artificial Intelligence”, and was briefed during his visit on the "Remote Inspection" project, the first of its kind in the region which was launched by Dubai Customs in cooperation with Dubai South, that aims to shorten the time of customs inspection by relying on advanced technologies and artificial intelligence. On its platform at the exhibition this year, the Foundation showcased the digital initiatives and three smart projects it presented, which reflect its commitment to moving towards an innovative digital future. The platform witnessed an exceptional turnout as it was the focus of attention and interest of technology sector leaders and attendees to see the Foundation’s latest digital projects. During this session, the Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation launched the “Dubai Sea” portal specialized in providing maritime guidance, entertainment and awareness information to Dubai Sea visitors about the locations of beaches, marinas and areas prohibited from entering the sea, and the “Digital Lighthouse” project, which is a smart operations room responsible for managing all maritime operations in Dubai waters and designated berths under the supervision of the Dubai Maritime Authority, and finally, displaying the updated version of the corporation’s virtual employee, “Naham,” who responds to customer inquiries around the clock. His Excellency Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, Chairman of the Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation, stated when he visited the platform that the Corporation has embodied its future aspirations through a comprehensive set of impressive technologies, solutions and initiatives that it has presented, confirming its leadership in this field and its endeavor to achieve its goals inspired by the leadership’s directives, explaining that the three digital projects presented by the PCFC express the efforts it is making to achieve a digital society that contributes to making Dubai an inspiring global center in the world of digital services and technologies. His Excellency praised the strategic partnerships and memorandums of understanding that the corporation concluded during its participation in the “GITEX Global” exhibition with the Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority in Dubai, Microsoft, and the cybersecurity company Fortinet, with the aim of enhancing cooperation in the field of communications and information technology. Bin Sulayem stressed that the Corporation’s participation in the GITEX Global Exhibition in its current session reflects our belief that investing in digital transformation plays a crucial role in promoting innovation and supporting economic development in the emirate, adding that this shows the Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation’s commitment to providing advanced and technical services that are compatible with government directions towards enhancing industry and technology for the future.
